We would like to add a stand alone new Lodge next to our current lodge, the Leopard Lodge. The Ranch is an Exotic Game Ranch for viewing African Animals. We have already started the foundation site and the area is a maximum of 48'x30', and is directly behind the Leopard Lodge and extends further North. The Land is on a hill and the site has been leveled. The new Lodge will face North East.
b. We would like to leave the current Lodge alone and only focus on the new Lodge. We would however, ask for ideas on how we could enhance the current entrance, possibly adding a beautiful free standing structure with four posts and a contemporary cover on top. The current Lodge is boxy, outdated and we would like to change the entrance to the exterior to a more appealing look.
a. We would like to tie in the current Lodge to the new lodge with a Breezeway. The Breezeway could go from the current entrance to the new entrance and could also be used to tie in the current lodge to the new lodge by providing shade from the west sun as well as tunneling wind into the lodge with cross ventilation. The top of the hill has a constant breeze.
We also would like to build approximately 1/4 of the new structure with a loft extended over the kitchen on the far North/West side. We also feel this would offset the look of two lodges beside one another looking like two boxes. We would like to incorporate tin or corrugated metal for a more contemporary feel into the loft area exterior and the current log wood on one or more sides.
We would like to have a full large kitchen to accommodate large groups up to twenty. We would like the master to be separated from the kitchen with a family room. The Master should be located on the East side (right side) of the building. We have a beautiful bluff view and we would like to have as many long high glass windows on the back side of the lodge as possible. We also would like a sliding door to access the wrap around porch area as it overlooks the hill. The exposure is North East. The wrap around Porch should be open and be large enough to allow for a table and chairs for eating outside. We would like to add into part of the deck and part protruding out of the deck a galvanized rustic looking above ground dipping pool for hot sunny days and heated for cold winter days. The cistern dipping pool would be flush into the deck but above ground due to the slope on the hill side. We envision a half moon effect, half in deck, half on slope. The Master should be ample space for sleeping and have a separate small work out exercise area.
We would like to achieve a contemporary feel as much as possible while working with the current log house look. The breeze way could bring a contemporary feel, and some metal or tin on the new structure with an interesting design.
We would like a great entrance to both Lodges and it should be comfortable to travel to both lodges and aesthetically pleasing. If it is possible to create a design with a carport before breeze way, then we would like to see the idea.
We would like part of the lodge to be higher in elevation where the loft would be. We think it would enhance the exterior and interior appeal.. We would like for the new structure to have a tower effect on top where a loft could be, which would add height to the new lodge. Possibly, 25% of the Lodge could have the higher area up to 18 feet and the rest of Lodge would be similar to the current lodge where the roof slopes from 12 to 8 ft on lowest part of roof. The interior will have an African Contemporary feel.
