The proposal for the top floor master suite attempts to take the most spatial advantage of the presence of the existing stack/chimney and sloped gable ceilings. The chimney is used as an anchor to place the master bath and walk-in dressing rooms, placing them adjacent to the sloped ceiling so things that require less clearance like clothing rods, bathtubs, and toilets can be placed without wasting space. The bedroom is placed on the valley-side of the home with larger windows to take advantage of greater light and views. Furthermore, where ceiling heights limit programming, crawl spaces are placed. The crawl space behind the bath is to be accessed through the walk-in dressing room and the one behind the bedroom accessed from the landing at the top of the stairs.
