here is a short description of my project:
The existing building is not going to be affected if not in the garage and the studio.
I imagine all external walls painted in dark grey, in order to have the new facades stick out.
The new facades have been conceived as stage curtains through timber 'brise-soleil' on a steel structure meant to hide the existing roof.
The roof over the garage is removed, thus creating a new terrace and contributing to create the wished for contemporary look of the house.
The attention to the entrance door is diverted by a stone wall and a white portal.
The horizontal lines of the timber side facade will become more and more open as far as the existing roof leaves space to the sky above.
The gym windows will be substituted by much larger door windows.
The garbage cans will be hidden by a timber wall, just like the ones hiding the existing roof, at ground level.
The garage door is going to be in horizontal wooden planks painted dark grey so to make it contemporary looking.
The study will be turned into a bedroom with en suite and a walk in closet.
The external look of the new bedroom will appear like a cube sticking out of the existing building.
