We moved into our home two years ago and decorated our whole house, except for our bedroom, which was so large that we felt overwhelmed and just filled it with old furniture. We've never liked how it looks and feel that it looks random, not well designed and uninviting. We want to redesign everything in the room and make it cohesive and beautiful.
I'm attaching a floor plan and a link to a panorama of the room so that you can see the current state.
We want a designer to give us a layout, a list of all the details/furniture to fill out the room within our budget.
Here is an Autodesk Homestyler Link to the room dimensions and current furniture layout (PLEASE NOTE that this is placeholder furniture ONLY to show the current layout) - click the "copy" botton to be able to interact with it:
Here is a link to a full panaroma of the room from Photosynth - you'll need Silverlight (as instructed in the link) installed to see it. Note the ceiling angles in the current sitting area:
In case you can't get the panorama to work, here is a link to pictures of the current room. Panorama is way better for understanding the space:
To give you an idea of our taste we're giving links to our Houzz ideabook and are posting pictures of our master bathroom and living room - both of which we really like.
Houzz ideabooks are here:
While there are few limitations, we likely wouldn't want to do any structural layout changes (although not completely out of the question) and would greatly prefer not to move the sconces that are already installed above the bed (though we understand that may become necessary). Also, we really like the window treatments (curtains and blinds) and they were very expensive. We want to keep them, which means that the color selections need to work with the platnum raw silk of the window drapes.
The TV stays (but could be moved if needed) and we sleep on a king size bed. We have a classic Eames chair that we could imagine keeping in that room, but completely optional and only if it worked. Generally we seem to like upholstered beds (specifically head boards). They feel more comfortable.
We want the room to be very comfortable, beautiful, relaxing, and inviting while being practical for a family with small children.
Things that are absolutely needed:
King size bed
2 bedside tables
Things that we've considered that might fit your design:
Sitting area with chairs or couch
Bench at end of the bed
Console table or dresser under TV (no priority around extra storage though, our closet is large)
Framing the TV
Use of Eames Chair
Wallpaper (perhaps only behind the bed)
The room is very large and has a slanted ceiling and a vaulted ceiling in the current sitting area. Making everything work together in a cohesive way is the core challenge for a designer.
We're looking for the best design to match our taste.
We have approximately $10,000 as a budget for the project. The winning design will work out a new layout and design down to the details of furniture or decoration and the places to buy where (US online retailers or US stores) with pieces that fit into the budget.
