We tried to solve the spatial problems in both the organization (where the layout can be rearranged per need) and function (which we wanted to make multi-functional, and equipped for both active and leisure actives)!
In terms of design we wanted something simple, as requested by client, and something that would correspond with existing pieces! Given that existing central piece (the sofa) is custom made, we decided to design a custom piece as well!
Therefore we designed a multi-sectional, consisting out of a 4 units which can be rearranged as needed. They provide both the main function, in terms of seating or lying, as well as a storage option for den-things (board games, DVDs, CDs, magazines, books, knitting…)
In terms of décor, we kept things extremely simple for several reasons! One of the reasons was the stone wall which is already present, which gives both texture and rhythm to the room! Second reason was the nature of the room, where by definition den-rooms are aimed to have a more calming, relaxing and “less busy” quality! Therefore, we opted out for an all white paint, for walls, a ceiling and the frames for both windows and doors in order to contrast the dark stone wall and bring in more light! The color also is very suitable to the existing color scheme of a mushroom sofa and the carpet! The last thing we did was hang up a few pieces (either photographs or paintings) to break up the wall texture, and soften up the contours.
