The basic concept of the exterior is to conform with the existing adjacent building shapes and express this classical gable element in a contemporary way. First floor is programmed mainly for more public uses such as living area, kitchen / dining area, etc. A complete open floor plan is proposed to maximize nature light and enlarge the space perceptually. Operable sliding glass doors are used to undermine the boundary between the interior and exterior. The central atrium combining with large skylights are meant to reinforce that notion. Bedrooms are generally provided on the second floor as part of the program requirements. Openings of the bedrooms facing the atrium are optional if privacy is preferred. Standing seam roof/siding are proposed for the modern touch and it is durable and cost effective (Fiber Cement panels can be used instead if preferred, they are both durable and cost effective materials).
