This house was built in 1930 with old growth heart pine flooring that will be milled and put back down in the living room. It is currently gutted down to the studs and floor joists. The exterior lap siding is being replaced with OSB and tyvek for now.
The area to be designed is the first floor. There is a fireplace that may or may not be used but a wood stove will need to be placed in the living room area. The kitchen area has been opened up and is quite large for a cottage that size. There is also one bedroom and a small bathroom on the first floor. A mud room addition has been built on to the cottage.
I would like to keep the feel of the 1930's but with the comfort and technology of today(maybe subway tile in the bath/kitchen area). I want the design to take into account I will expand to a master suite at some point in the future. Solar power, wood burning boilers, off the grid thinking, heated floors should all be considered.
